Partition Wizard Pro's Server 2012 R2 compatibility should not be overlooked. Partition Wizard Pro, compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10-powered machines, gives you at-a-glance information about your computer's hard drives, though the blue user interface grates on the eyes during long periods of use. A free version is also available, but it lacks batch operations and other features found in the paid version. This lightweight utility packs a slew of features that should appeal to PC tinkerers, including partition expansion, surface tests, and hard drive format conversions, but a few small complaints may give potential users pause in this otherwise highly regarded application. Windows's built-in disk management utility does an adequate job of letting you manage your PC's partitions, but if you want to perform a deeper dive into your PC's hard drive (or drives!), check out MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro Edition (Opens in a new window) ($39, or $59 for free lifetime upgrades).

"Best tool" is pretty subjective, as it really depends on what you plan to use it for, simple move/extend or your a power user that needs to control partition ID's, block sizes, etc. Paragon if I need to do some serious tweaking, such as setting up Dell/HP recovery partitions, etc.īack in the day I used Ranish Partition Manager, which is DOS based and pretty badass for its time.Įven FOSS linux based tools such as gparted (included on partedmagic) are capable of doing the majority of partitioning tasks, but can have a higher learning curve, as they are geared towards a more technical mind. (such as moving the boot partition to the beginning of the drive so I can extend the primary partition to fill a new larger drive) Used to like EaseUS, but then they started bundling a bunch of crap so switched to Aomei.

Builtin windows disk management for simple partition extends.Īomei for quick partition moves.
