I think that Live is running a form of Lattice-Boltzmann ( implemented on GPU). Live is all about getting instant results from a geometry change. Under the hood I think it uses the Fluent solver for CFD, but I think they re-wrote the FEA solver. It was still a young product so not everything was implemented and there were some weird work flow issues that I think got better every release. When I used AIM for the first time (a few years ago now) I was pretty impressed with the idea. It also has the goal of making muyltiphysics easier to do, so it has a bunch of tools to link CFD and FEA together. Live and AIM are very different products.ĪIM is really focused on bringing more people into simulation so the interface is simpler than regular Fluent or Mechanical, and it holds your hand.
